Theme Giant Bulb – The connection

This Giant Tulip Bulb symbolizes the connection between the Haarlemmermeer and the Bulbregion: On the front we start in the Haarlemmermeer with the Cruquius museum, one of the three stations who did the reclamation of Haarlemmermeer by means of steam power between 1849 and 1852, next to it the control tower of Schiphol Airport. If you walk clockwise around the bulb, you can see the Calatrava ‘Citer’ bridge over the main canal in Nieuw-Vennep. On the backside of the bulb we go in the direction of the Bulbregion with the beach and the lighthouse of Noordwijk, not to mention the client of this bulb; the Intercity hotel Amsterdam Airport. Finally, you will see the pearl of the Bulbregion; Keukenhof

Artist – Jan Hogervorst

Jan Hogervorst has lived in Lisse (De Engel) all his life. He has always worked in the hospitality industry and has been retired for three years. This gave him more time to pick up his hobby: painting and drawing. He has enjoyed this a lot since his school days, but never really had time to do anything with it. Painting and drawing is his passion and he does this with great pleasure and enthusiasm. He actually paints everything he likes and does that on commission.
