Theme Giant bulb – Multicolored Climbers

All over the world there are people who connect flowers with colors. These colors are the start of a new spring, new growth and new hope. Each year flowers pop up their tiny heads to rise in glory. My work symbolizes the variations of harmonious, colorful flowerbeds and the people from all over the world who come to visit the ‘Bollenstreek’. Both are various in it’s form and appearance and can grow best if there is harmony. Because Flower-Power is a statement that includes all living things and will last forever.

After standing in place for six months, the bulb became damaged and had to be repaired. This is evident; the patchy areas of sanding and filling have given some of the human figures a different meaning. Damaged, disabled and almost written-off people have been added to the bulb. Whereas the image on the bulb initially reflected the composition of society: people helping each other to get ahead, it actually became even more complete. A happy society is one that harmoniously embraces all denominations and people of every belief or colour.
