Theme Giant Tulip Bulb – Dutch Blue Beauty

This Giant Tulip Bulb is the artist’s tribute to 2 nostalgic companies in Sassenheim. The first company is the Velzen pottery factory, where she worked for 10 years. This factory was active from 1942 to 2002. The Giant Tulip Bulb is painted in the style of Delft blue pottery, as she has painted many tableware items. The second company is the Bernardus Sassenheim Residential Care Center, where she worked for 15 years, and which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024. The peacock symbolizes the pride that the artist feels for the care that this care center has been providing for 100 years. The basket of flowers and the birds represent the homeliness of this location.
