Theme Giant Tulip Bulb – Zuleikha
This Giant Tulip Bulb is named after the farm “Zuleikha” where this story began. The origins of this family business dates back to 1895. Pioneer Anton Vogelaar started a farm in the Haarlemmermeerpolder. The clay soil of this polder (reclaimed land), located 6 metres below sea level, provided fertile ground for the enterprise. After 80 years in the agricultural sector, the farm shifted its activities in 1975. In that year, Piet Vogelaar began manually packing hay and straw for small pets. Together with his two brothers, he developed and automated the packaging process, and the company grew into a major player. Now, 50 years later under the leadership of the third generation, these products are still manufactured here, tailored to the contemporary pet market.
