Theme Giant Tulip Bulb- The centrepieces of Leiden
The Leiden Castle, the Hortus Botanicus, windmill ‘de Valk’, Leiden University and the festivities on October 3th: all kinds of sights of our beautiful Leiden. In addition, the Leiden celebrities scientist Herman Boerhaave and painter Rembrandt van Rijn are depicted. With this bulb we want to invite everyone who follows the Giant Tulip bulbroute to take a look in Leiden to visit these key pieces in real life. Who knows, you might even find all the hidden tulips!
Artists – Students of the ‘Da Vinci College’
At the end of last school year, the 5th VWO class provided sketches and ideas for the design. It was immediately clear that they wanted to create the city of Leiden, where they live, where their school is located and what they are proud of. Silke Roelsema, Sophia Dierssen, Rebecca Koppers en Ressa Bouwman, students from 6 VWO of the Da Vinci College (location: Kagerstraat), made a choice from all the designs provided and painted the Giant Tulip Bulb. With enthusiasm and a lot of personal input, they determined which sketches they wanted to use for the bulb and they got to work with enthusiasm. It was immediately clear that perspective would play a major role. These students will take their final exams in drawing in 2025
